Population

      Islam has affected Guinea because it makes up the majority of their population. Guinea’s population is approximately 12 million (worldpopulationreview.com). Its population is 85% Muslim, 8% Christian, and 7% indigenous beliefs (Nationmaster.com). Its ethnic groups are 40% Peuhl, 30% Malinke, 20% Soussou, and 10% smaller ethnic groups (nationmaster.com).  Although the main language of Guinea is French, many people also speak Malinké (Maninkakan), Fulani (Poular), Soussou, Kpelle (Guerzé), Loma (Toma), Kissi, Coniagui, and Bassari. The ratio of genders is 1 male per female. The birth rate is 36.3 births per 1,000 people. The death rate is 9.94 deaths per 1,000 people (nationmaster.com). The majority of people in Guinea honor the Islamic religion as represented by these statistics.
